Diane Portwine, Steve Warburton and Sarah Portwine attended a meeting with Island Roads and the Parish Council on 7th April where the use of the Steyne Road car park during the upcoming road closure was discussed. It was decided that Island Roads will not use the car park instead they will use the entrance to the old school field as this will be more secure for them and cause no parking issues. Island Roads have agreed to put out a sign to indicate that the centre is open during the road closure and vehicle access to the car park will only be restricted for a few days.
- 4. Treasurer’s Report
The accounts for the financial year 2015/16 are being undertaken by Klark Phelan and all invoices were paid with the exception of Island Ales. Letters received concerning a fine from HMRC were a mistake on their part so there is nothing to pay from last year. Non-domestic rates are remaining at approximately £40 per month and the Paypal account was emptied before the end of the last financial year.
The BYCC and CIC have had a successful year with an overall profit of approximately £7,000.
- 5. 5 Year Plan
Sarah Portwine has met with one architect and is due to meet another two to gain quotes for the upcoming project. Emma Goldring has passed on details of a community business grant that has a round of funding in October 2016 that the centre will aim to apply for. Bill Bristow relayed the support of the Parish Council for the BYCC and the 5 year plan.
- 7. Any other business
There will be a litter pick starting in Steyne Park on Saturday 16th April.
Carl Johnston had been asked to raise the question about why the BYCC is no longer a member of Bembridge Business Association. A discussion was had about the benefits of BBA membership and the committee decision not to renew membership that was made at a meeting in October 2015.
The AGM date has been changed to Wednesday 25th May at 7pm in the lounge, this will be followed by a management committee meeting.
